Evergreen content stays useful long after publication, as opposed to content tied to a moment, a trend or a date.
Its value is cumulative. A timely post earns its audience in a week and then stops; an evergreen one earns a smaller weekly audience indefinitely, and a library of them compounds into traffic that arrives whether or not you published this month.
Evergreen is not the same as never updated. Statistics age, tools are discontinued, screenshots stop matching. The pieces that keep performing are the ones revisited once or twice a year.
The trade is speed of return. Timely content pays this week; evergreen content pays from month six onward, which is why most creators need both.
In practice
A guide to pricing a first digital product keeps earning search traffic for years; a reaction to this month's platform change stops within days.
Common mistake
Publishing evergreen content and never revisiting it. Outdated specifics do more damage to credibility than the traffic is worth.
