Also called online workshop
A webinar is a scheduled online presentation, usually with a teaching segment followed by questions and an offer.
The format works because it buys sustained attention. Someone who registers and attends has given forty minutes of undivided time, which is far more than any page will ever get, and conversion rates reflect that.
Registration is where most of the value is captured regardless of attendance. Typically only a minority of registrants attend live, so the replay and the follow-up sequence produce a large share of the eventual sales.
Its reputation suffered from formats that were thirty minutes of filler before a pitch. The version that still works teaches something genuinely useful whether or not anyone buys.
In practice
Two hundred registrations, seventy live attendees and sales split roughly evenly between the live session and the replay is a normal shape.
Common mistake
Withholding the useful part until the offer. Attendees leave before it, and the recording is judged on the same failure.
