Carousel

Also called swipe post

A carousel is a post containing several images or slides that the viewer swipes through in sequence.

The format buys time. A single image is judged in a moment; a carousel asks for a swipe, and each swipe is another interaction that platforms read as interest. That is why carousels frequently out-distribute single images with identical content.

The structure that works is a sequence, not a gallery. Slide one earns the swipe, the middle slides deliver one idea each, the last one asks for something. A carousel of pretty but unordered photographs gets one swipe and stops.

It is also the most repurposable format: the same sequence becomes a newsletter, a short video script, and a set of individual posts.

In practice

A five-slide carousel — problem, why it happens, the fix, an example, the offer — holds attention through the whole sequence in a way one dense image never does.

Common mistake

Putting the conclusion on slide one. It removes the reason to swipe, and the format's entire advantage with it.
